I've been using this program called Free Download Manager for a good couple of years now. It's an excellent utility with lots of great features. They're trying to get their name out, and I want to help.

Windows Live Messenger Error 80048834

I received an error 80048834 today when I signed up for a new Windows Live account. I tried to login to messenger 8.0 and got infinite loop, always rotating MSN messenger pawns (the little green men.) I upgraded to 8.1 Beta and got an error message 80048834. The OK button took me to an "Accept an agreement" page, but I got an error that there was something wrong with my account and it couldn't be completed at that time and that I should try again later.

I resolved it by going to http://login.live.com and signing in with my username. I was prompted again to accept the agreement, but this time it took it.

Now I am good to go...

MS releases new version of the world

Yes, you read that title correctly. Microsoft has released a new version of the world, according to SoftPedia, and unfortunately for us, it's in beta.

The web page title at http://www.softpedia.com/get/Internet/Browsers/Internet-Explorer-7.shtml states "Download Internet Explorer 7.0 Beta 3 - Internet Explorer 7.0 - The latest version of the world - Windows Internet Explorer"

A quick view of the Source Code reveals the full title, "Download Internet Explorer 7.0 Beta 3 - Internet Explorer 7.0 - The latest version of the world’s most popular Web browser has been released for technical evaluation - Softpedia." Still, I found it humorous.

UMPC, or "I Love Gadgets!"

Have you heard about the UMPC? The Origami project? http://origamiproject.com/default.aspx

UMPC is for Ultra-Mobile Personal Computer. Smaller than a tablet -- bigger than a PDA.

If battery life is good, I can see myself using one of these...

What are your thoughts? Something you would use?

I bought a TabletPC a couple months ago. Mostly for work, but partly for myself as well. Most people who see it are amazed that I can write (and erase!) on the computer. I give them a little explanation and tour of it, and they walk away satisfied.

Funny thing is that until today, I have seen only one other TabletPC "in the wild," if you will. Today while eating at Garfield's, I noticed eight people sitting at a table wearing nice business attire with notebook computers. Looked a little odd, but I suppose they were having a meeting over lunch. I then noticed a sign on the table that this particular restaurant has Wi-Fi access points. Cool! Makes it a good place to have meetings like that. Then I looked a little closer at the computers they were using. I saw someone with a pen tapping the screen. It was then I realized that each one of those eight people had the same TabletPC I have, the HP Compaq tc4200. There's nothing earth-shattering about this, but I just thought it was weird that up until today, I have seen/met only one other TabletPC user, then today, I get hit with eight!

Lunch was good. Southern Fried Chicken Salad with Italian dressing. No mushrooms or tomatoes, please. And next time, go light on the bacon...'

I wish I had a picture to upload with this post, but I can't think of any pics I have that are related to this.. so maybe next time.
